Exotic Farmed Frags SPS

SPS stands for "Small Polyp Stony" corals. SPS corals are characterized by their small, intricate polyps and hard calcium carbonate skeletons. These corals are known for their stunning growth formations, vibrant colors, and often delicate and branching structures.

SPS corals are one of the two main categories of stony corals, with the other being LPS (Large Polyp Stony) corals. The distinction between SPS and LPS corals lies in the size of their polyps and the characteristics of their skeletons. SPS corals have smaller polyps and tend to build thinner, more delicate skeletons compared to the larger polyps and denser skeletons of LPS corals.

Common examples of SPS corals include Acropora, Montipora, Pocillopora, and Stylophora, among others. These corals are highly sought after by reef aquarium enthusiasts due to their intricate growth patterns and intense colors. However, SPS corals can be more demanding to care for compared to LPS corals, as they often require precise water parameters, stable lighting, and excellent water quality to thrive.
