Introducing MatrixCarbon™, the activated carbon designed to give you the best filtration results for your aquarium. What makes it unique is its spherical bead shape, allowing for maximum water flow and contact with its high density of macroporous binding sites. Unlike other carbons, it won't pack and limits ash content to ensure minimal impact on pH levels, even in distilled water.

When it comes to removing organic matter, MatrixCarbon™ outperforms other high-grade carbons by at least two-fold. It has a low detectable leachable phosphate content, making it one of the best options for aquarium water filtration. But what sets MatrixCarbon™ apart is that it's a macroporous carbon made from bituminous coal. It removes primarily larger organic molecules like nitrogenous waste, making it ideal for water filtration. This type of carbon functions through small cracks and crevices called macropores, enabling maximum contact with water.

While many think of carbon as a chemical filter, it's actually a mechanical filter too. It can mechanically filter objects of molecular size through micropores and macropores. Microporous carbons are best suited for air filtration, removing primarily metals and smaller ions, while macroporous carbons like MatrixCarbon™ are best suited for water filtration.

It's important to note that all carbons contain phosphate, but MatrixCarbon™ has the lowest detectable leachable phosphate content of all major carbon brands tested. The carbon source's ash contains phosphate, but MatrixCarbon™'s hydrodynamic properties allow for more ash to be washed away than other carbons during the acid-washing process, resulting in lower leachable phosphate.

Choose MatrixCarbon™ for unparalleled water filtration, maximum water flow, and minimal impact on pH levels.
